Lead

Colour

#404040

You can use the brush or pen tool for the lead

You can also use the Vector Triangle and deform

Duplicate the Red wood for the pencil layer

Deform and put in middle of first red layer ( on Top)

Pull above the light pencil wood a little.

Erase square edges a bit.

I used yellow so you can see how I deformed and put the duplicate layer.

Arrange your pencil parts so they are in place.

Save your image now in layers.

It makes it easier to change the colour.

Duplicate your image , merge visible and use the deform tool to get it slender.

Save as Merged Pencil.

* You can get polka dots and lines by using Artistic Effect Halftone on each red layer of the main wooden part of pencil.

I used Eye candy 5 Impact on my original pencil. I used Gradient on this one for those who don`t have it.

Yell if I forgot something.

Judy, your cutout shading works so nicely for this.

Great tut thanks very much.

The only thing i had a problem with was the Burn tool....it didn't seem to want to work, so i fiddled with that bit.

I always have to fiddle with that too. I'm not used to using it. I saw your pencil and it's terrific.

I have had a play with the burn tool on the gradient lines. I have edited the tut and put the burn settings in, that looked good to me.
