A stranger on a lonely snowy world.

Just playing about with the document set-up in Bryce and PSP....

If I had some good snowing plug in, I may add some snow fall.... but for now this is ok ;-)

Comments welcome.

Great image! I have a free snowing plugin that's pretty cool! Google VanDerLee Snowflakes and see if it comes up.

Oh I really like this. You have captured the feeling of an unspoiled snowfall. Again file size too big for gallery.

Lovely snowy world.  With that beautiful shadow of the hovering stranger you don't need falling snow. I find when I am using falling snow that getting rid of shadows is the hard part, because it looks incongruous.

In Vue there are two ways of doing falling snow, which you might be able to adapt for Bryce. You can make a material of tiny flakes on a transparent background and apply it to a cylinder which you put around, or just in front of, the camera. Or, you can put the same material on alpha planes, some close to the camera, giving bigger foreground flakes, and some further back making smaller more distant flakes. The cylinders sometimes make unnaturally large flakes in the foreground, so I like the alpha plane method best. I have an example of that in this forum, at

(It is rather a heavy snowfalll. I think I overdid the alpha planes).

Or, you can add them in PSP using the free Ulead particle plug-in if you can still get that. I usually do that in PhotoImpact because the plug-in is part of the program, but you used to be able to get it as a stand-alone for other programs and it gives you rain, snow, bubbles and various other things. It was very handy for programs like PSP which don't have something similar built in. I just did a Google and you can still get it here - among other places

EDIT: Found it...I just removed one of the "forums4" bits from your link Topsy and it took me right to it.
